In the practice of fly fishing, rods are an especially important accessory. These rods are differentiated by its size and its more or less flexible action. The length of the rods is indicated in feet (1 foot = approximately 30 cm)

The size of the surface aquatic or of the brook in which going to fish should guide your choice.

The most versatile rods are 9 feet, because they allow to throw pretty far and have a volume medium once folded. Sizes 8 and 9 feet are perfectly adapted to the majority of European rivers and streams.

If fishing in small courses of water or in small streams, you will be more effective with rods more small of 6 or 7 feet. PescarĂ¡s less far, but will be more precise in the distances short. As the cane is less long, you can fish in places with more obstacles.

The line:

Contrary to the classic fishing reels spinning or casting, in this case is not bait which drag the line, but the line that propels a bait.

You have to choose the size of the line according to the level that it has and needs.

The thinner line (#2 or #3), less far drop. These small lines allow fish accurately at close range, without getting tired. The lines #4 and #5 are the most versatile, allowing you to fish quite long and middle distances.

Beyond that, the lines will be suitable for large flies and fishing with streamer (imitation of fish).

The reel

You must choose the reel based on storage capacity adapted to the line. This storage capacity is expressed in the size of the line (#4, #5,… etc.) + backing (65 m for example).

The backing is the line that gets into the reel before the line. It is a reserve of line that prevents the line to turn around the spool and that it will be very useful in combat with a big fish. On average, have to put between 60 m and 70 m of backing in line of #4 or #5.

There are ready to engage in the fishing line low. The choice of these low line will take place depending on the type of river in which we obtained. It has much more power, less long should be the bass line. Also it must be chosen in function of the diameter of the tip of the line, 14/100 or 16/100 will be very versatile. To check that trout are suspicious and hit the fly without swallowing it, reduce the size of the bass on the line.

The flies

There are two major categories of flies that will allow you to fish in many situations.

The flies floating (dry) allow fishing the trout that is feed in the surface. These flies are very effective when there are hatching or when the trout are baited in the surface.

Flies drowned (nymphs), allowing you to fish for the trout at the bottom of the water. There let the nymph moves adrift at the bottom and close attention. The chopped is detected often by a deviation of the line or a voltage in the same. Also you can add an indicator of minced in the low of line to detect the best with fly lures for sale.

You can use two flies (the submersible and the floating) in the same Assembly. This mount allows you to fish on the surface and at the bottom at the same time. In addition, floating fly will serve bite indicator if a trout takes nymph.
